The Atlantic Avenue Tunnel

Documented folklore from the Club 49 map, told straight and sourced.

The story

Under Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn runs the oldest subway tunnel in the world, built in 1844 for the Long Island Rail Road, sealed and forgotten in 1861, and rediscovered in 1980 by a young man named Bob Diamond who crawled in through a manhole in the street. Half a mile of stone-arched tunnel still lies down there in the dark. Public tours ran for years before a safety dispute closed them; the tunnel and its rediscovery are documented history.

The ground it haunts

Atlantic Avenue at Court Street, Brooklyn (NY). Source: TRUE: a real 1844 tunnel, sealed 1861, rediscovered 1980. The Club 49 map pins this legend at its documented country, beside the real mines, active claims, land status and modeled honey holes of the same ground. Open the free map and go stand in the story.
