Roll to the white line at the bottom of this hill, put the car in neutral, and it appears to drift backward UP the slope. The pioneers blamed a giant gator; the Seminole told of a chief and the beast that fought here. It is a gravity hill, the horizon tricking the eye, and knowing that does not spoil it a bit. A real and free roadside wonder in Lake Wales.

The Club 49 map pins this legend at its documented country, beside the real mines, active claims, land status and modeled honey holes of the same ground. Open the free map and go stand in the story.
