Documented folklore from the Club 49 map, told straight and sourced.
In 1679 the explorer La Salle built the Griffon, the first full-sized sailing ship on the upper Great Lakes, loaded her with furs, and sent her home. She sailed into a September gale and was never seen again, the first shipwreck of the inland seas and still the great unsolved one, the Holy Grail of Great Lakes wrecks. Hunters have claimed to find her in Ontario and Michigan waters for a century; none has proven it.
The upper Great Lakes (Lake Huron, ON / MI). Source: The first and most-hunted Great Lakes shipwreck, still lost since 1679. The Club 49 map pins this legend at its documented country, beside the real mines, active claims, land status and modeled honey holes of the same ground. Open the free map and go stand in the story.
