Bohemian Grove & the Owl Shrine

Documented folklore from the Club 49 map, told straight and sourced.

The story

The private Bohemian Club retreat in the redwoods along the Russian River. Its emblem is a roughly 40-foot stone owl, the Owl Shrine, that stands by the grove lake and is the backdrop for the club's summer "Cremation of Care" ceremony. Generations of secrecy have made it a magnet for lore and conspiracy theory. It is strictly PRIVATE property: no public access, no trespassing.

The ground it haunts

Monte Rio, Sonoma County (private property). Source: Bohemian Club, widely documented. The Club 49 map pins this legend at its documented country, beside the real mines, active claims, land status and modeled honey holes of the same ground. Open the free map and go stand in the story.
